A Medicine of Meaning: The Path of Biography and Social Art

with Douglas Garrett

Sunday, June 14
2-4pm Eastern

In this workshop we’ll explore the possibilities and developmental potentials for Biography and Social Art working within the realm of illness processes and healing. Our “I” is the inner physician. How might artistic biography work help strengthen our “I” in its directing role in our astral, etheric and physical bodies?

“By making concrete, detailed pictures of both the inner and outer phenomena of our life and looking at it all as a selfless witness, we can begin to discern the truth within…This, Gudrun Burkhard suggests, is preventive medicine. When we take on our self-education together with others, we consciously work to transform conditions and tendencies that otherwise might lead to illness…By consciously taking hold of the material of our lives we access and generate healing substances from our biography that are available for our further creative endeavors…”

-Margli Matthews, a biography counselor, in her Introduction to Gudrun Burkhard’s Biographical Work: The Anthroposophical Basis
